SATA, IDE, SCSI, SAS, SSD
This post is about some important Storage devices like SATA, IDE,SCSI, SAS, SSD . so you can read this article carefully. after that It helps you choose a better storage drive for your computer system.
SATA :- SATA known as Serial Advance Technology Attachment. SATA drive have generally 7 pins. 4 pins in pear of two for sanding and receiving data and rest 3 pin are GND . SATA drive offers generally 300 MB/S transfer rate. It’s sand data bit by bit. SATA cable are used to connected SATA HDD, and other SATA drive. Only one drive canbe connected in a single SATA cable.
PATA :- PATA stands for Parallel Advance Technology Attachment. PATA drive also know as a IDE( Integrated Drive Electronic ) drive. PATA drives has usually 40 pins. PATA drives offers 133MB/s transfer rate. It’s sands 8bit data at a time. PATA cable are used connected PATA/IDE HDD and other IDE drive. Two PATA drive can be connected in a single PATA cable.one as master and other as Slave. the configuration of master and Slave is done by different combination of jumper in the HDD .
SCSI :- SCSI stands for Small Computer
System Interface (SCUZZY) . SCSI drive have
generally 52-68 pin . SCSI drive offers
generally 640MB/S transfer rate.
SCSI cable are used to connected SCSI HDD . maximum 16 drive canbe connected in
a single SCSI cable . each HDD has 8bit Hexadecimal code. Known as WWN(world wild name) , for it’s
identification in the cable.
SAS :- SAS stands for Serial Attach Small Computer System Interface . SAS drive
offers usually 805MB/s transfer rate . SAS cable are
used to connected SAS drive. Maximum of 128 drives canbe connected in a single
SAS cable .
SSD :- SSD stand for Solid-State Drive. an SSD (solid-state
drive) is a type of nonvolatile storage media that uses integrated circuit
assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSD some time called solid-state
disk. Flash controller and NAND flash memory chip
make up an SSD . unlike a HDD ,
an SSD has no moving parts, read/write head, mechanical arm etc. an SSD reads
and writes the data to a substrate of interconnected flash memory chips. So it
is faster than the HDD. an SSD can connected to the traditional HDD port. Some
HDD connected to the PCIe port, M.2 port, USB port etc. An SSD increase the
computer speed compared to traditional HDD (Start-up time, data transfer rate,
read and write speed, etc. ) . It's expensive than normal HDD.
