OPERATING SYSTEM

In this article i discussed about what is Operating system, Function Of Operating System , types of Operating System , Examples  of  OS  and many more .

Operating System :-

The operating system performs the task of system management, storage management, input output drive management .it can communicate each and every drives of the computer system. And control the hole system , is called operating system.  It also known as system software.

Ex:- Windows, Linux, Mac, Dos, android etc .

Function Of Operating System :-

Process Management :- Process management task care of creation and deletion of process , scheduling of system resources to define process  requesting them.

Memory Management :- memory management module task care of allocation , DE allocations   of memory space to programs in net  of the resources.

File Management :- file management module care of file related activities  such as storage , data read/write ,  sharing and protection of files.

Security :- Security module protects  the resources an information of a computer system against direction and unauthorized access.

I/O Management :-  OS can communicate each and every input and output drives, that are connected to the computer system. OS always monitor each and every I/O drives are works properly.

Types of Operating System :-

Multi Processing Operating System :-

The idea of using I/O processor to improve system performance was carried a step farther by design systems with multiple CPUs. Such system are called multi processing operating system. Because they used multiple processor within a single computer system. and can exact used multiple process at the same time, such as sharing the computer bus, memory and other peripheral devices etc. Multiple CPUs of the systems are used to process the large volume of instruction  from a difference and independents programs or difference instruction of same program simultaneously with very high speed .

The most advantage of the multiple operating system is there are two or More CPU in a Single Operating System if one CPU will fail, then other CPU is used for providing backup to the first CPU. Multiprocessing OS generally used in weather forecasting,  Satellite control , etc .

Time Sharing Operating System :-

Time sharing operating system is a mechanism to provide simultaneously interactive of a computer system by many users in such a way . a time sharing operating system has many users terminals connected to the same computers simultaneously  . using  this terminals multiple users can works on the system. Example of time sharing operating system is unix  etc.

Batch Processing Operating System :-

When ever a computer accepts a batch of programs for processing, provide to it appropriate a compiler , find the errors and provide I/O routines . for this purpose each program has , a set of instructions is called job control language . instruction which instructs the batch operating system on the industry and the requirement for the job .example of the batch operating system is Payroll System, Bank Statements etc.

Real time operating system :-

There are applications in which a computer  is accepts to the central the operation of a physical system. For example  - a satellite in orbit  may be control by a computer.  position , velocity , acceleration information of the satellite maybe control to a computer . which maybe control  the  orbit of satellite by the  computer  and give instruction to it’s rocket motors to correct  the orbit . in such an application is called the real time operating system  the real time operating system have to work with instruct  time limit for critical job.  the real time operating system generally used in Satellite control, medical imaging systems, industrial control systems, Scientific experiments,  robots, air traffic control systems, etc.

 Examples  of  OS ( operating system  ) :-

DOS Operating System :-

MS DOS stands for Microsoft disk operating system . it is a single user single tasking operating system . it is a most popular operating system for the personal computer in 1980 . it is CUI (character user interface or command  user interface ) based OS .

WINDOWS Operating System :-

Windows is the most popular operating system in this day. Microsoft windows OS was developed by Microsoft . it is upgrade version of MS-DOS OS.  In 1990 Microsoft decision to launch windows OS . the fast successful  version of windows OS was windows version 3.0 . subsequently release  version was windows 98,2000,XP,VISTA,7,8,10 etc. some advantage of windows operating system is it is GUI (Graphical User Interface ) based , Single user Multitasking  operating system. It’s design a complete operating system environment . types of windows OS are :-

MAC Operating System :-

MAC stands for Macintosh Operating Systems . Mac is the GUI (Graphical User Interface) based operating systems. That developed by Apple Inc. Mac OS  is primarily designed for the Apple’s MAC  based Computer , Laptop and other Apple devices . it was first released in 1999 as MAC X server 1.0 with a widely released as a desktop version Mac OS X 10.0  in March 2001 . it is the second  most widely used desktop OS , after Microsoft OS. 

LINUX Operating System :-

Linux is an open source Operating System. It is a Multiuser , Multitasking , Multiprocessing , Multiprogramming operating system , design used on pc . the programmer fast wrote the version of unix as a toy project.  Linus Torvalds later posted the code on the internet , which called linux OS.  he oversee development of Linux kernel and owns it's trade marks . most popular  linux os are :- Ubuntu Linux, Linux Mint,  Arch Linux,  Deepin,  Fedora,  Debian,  openSUSE  etc.

ANDROID Operating System :-

Android is a most popular linux based Mobile Operating System. That developed by Google and Handset Alliance (OHA) .  The Android OS was originally created and developed by Android, Inc., which was bought by Google in 2005. The android is an open source operating system means that it’s free and any one can use it. Android is primarily designed for the Touch screen Mobile devices such as  smart Phone , and Tablets .android OS normally written in JAVA , C, C++ and other language. Google has further developed and used the Android OS in Android TV , PC , Smart Watch , digital camera , game control and many more electronic devices , etc.  types of android operating system are :-
